How did you get started, and what do you love most about what you create?
I’m a multidisciplinary artist and printmaker living and working in Rochester, NY. I received my BFA from Purchase College of Art and Design in 2012 and have been working out of my own studio and printshop since. My favorite printmaking method is screenprinting and I use this medium, along with other methods, to make multilayer prints, sculptures, and installations. I love the process of registering layers when I’m printing and always enjoy mixing ink for the prints I’m working on.
What brought you to French Paper?
A friend introduced me to French Paper years ago and I’ve been using it ever since. I love the variety and unique color choices. One of my favorites is the Kraft-Tone line because of all the little flecks and fibers in the paper. It adds a nice subtle texture to my prints!
What is your biggest inspiration? Why?
Most of my work is inspired by observations made while driving or walking. I’m particularly interested in the built environment and how people interact with objects and structures. I really love the banal details of everyday life that often go overlooked. I think it’s important to give these things attention because noticing them can deepen the perception and appreciation of one's surroundings.
4) What is your favorite project you’ve worked on using French Paper?
For the past three years, I have been screenprinting an edition of calendars on French Paper. This is a fun project because it is slightly different from my usual work and gives me a chance to enjoy the production aspect of printmaking on a larger scale. With these calendars, I try to bring together aesthetics and function to create a well designed object that people can use in their home all year long.
